What I am building
BitBot is an open-source pocket companion that combines Bitcoin, Nostr and AI in one small pop art character with a touchscreen. It is designed by me (Johannes Oppewal, BitPopArt) together with Jacco, who handles hardware engineering and technical development. I do the character design, visuals and creative direction.
The software is already far along. The bot has a 240 x 320 portrait touchscreen interface with about 115 screens and a dashboard of around 40 tiles, including:
- Bitcoin: price, sats converter, fees, halving countdown, SATS, WORLD
- Nostr and Lightning: NOSTR, ZAP, ZAPPER, TIP JAR, FEED, BITCHAT, Web of Trust
- AI: AI and TALK, plus BUDDY and BOT TALK for chatting with your bot
- Everyday tools: CLOCK, NOTE, STOPWATCH, INTERVAL, WIFI, CAMERA, SOUND, NFC
- Play and fun: PLAY, REACTION, MEME, FITBOT, TCG, COLLECTIBLES
The screens you see on this page are pictures from our simulator, not photos of a finished bot. The first physical prototype is being built now.
What your support makes possible
Backing BitBot gets the first batch of devices built, tested and shipped. The planned price of one BitBot is EUR 210. A BitBot is only open hardware if you can build on it, so the code and designs are open source.
Beyond the device, I am working on BitBot coins: 3D-printed NFC tags that you tap on your bot.
